people who say they hate displays of celebrities/celebrity culture with everything going on in the world….. not me! i love gossip i love when the monkeys dance i love when they sparkle……… i watch oscar isaac kiss up jess chastain’s arm for 30 minutes then i log off and go about my day in the real world
i didn’t find aoc’s dress as Powerful a message as some other people did and it was actually a little embarrassing for me personally but it really is wild that people got legitimately furious at her for wearing it because they googled “how much do met gala tickets cost” and truly believed she paid that when she absolutely did Not aksjdkdjd like listen there is something to be said for celebrity in politics and the cult of personality (and also already famous people getting things for free) blah blah panem et circenses, sparkly lights court jester diversion blah… but the thing about aoc being an elected public official is that we literally know exactly what her annual salary is and all of her assets because her full financial disclosure is a matter of public record and yes i got a little miffed at people a while back for claiming millionaires are not the enemy and only billionaires are the enemy because lol i’m not going to seek out class solidarity with a multimillionaire pop star simply based on the fact that we are both Not Jeff Bezos, but the thing is aoc is not even close to a millionaire and if you really think a good use of your time and energy is trying to guillotine everyone who makes more than 100k a year in salary for a job uh. hm. good luck with that.
